Open the project at camp, walk out with the map on your phone, and record as you go. Three surveyors, three traverses, one map. Nothing gets retyped in the evening.
Offline map package · GPS position and accuracy · photos, sketches and samples on every station
02 · Read every outcrop
Each reading is a plane in space.
Strike and dip go in with the right-hand rule, and every reading drops onto a stereonet the moment you save it. You can watch the fold take shape while you are still standing on the ridge.
Assign stations to units, draw contacts that snap to your observations, and let Singkapan check that every polygon closes. Contacts bend through the valleys the way the rule of Vs says they should. You stay the geologist. It does the drafting.
Unit legend · certain, approximate and inferred contacts · topology checks
04 · See what lies beneath
Cut the ground open.
Draw a section line and see the fold, the fault and the granodiorite stock in profile, built from the same readings you took in the field.
Section A–A′ · readings projected onto the line · no vertical exaggeration
The problem
The fieldwork ends. The map is still months away.
A mapping season produces hundreds of stations, a thousand readings and a notebook full of sketches. All of it gets copied at least twice before it becomes a map: into a spreadsheet at camp, then into GIS back at the office. Every copy is a chance to lose a decimal, a page or a week.

What's inside
Explanation
Every geological map carries a legend, so the product gets one too. Units are grouped by where you use them. The italic note says when each one arrives.
In the field
Phone or tablet, offline
Qfc
Field capture field trial
Stations, lithology, attitudes, samples, photos and sketches in one record. Made for one hand, wet gloves and full sun.
Qom
Offline maps field trial
Topography, elevation and imagery for your field sheet, downloaded at camp. The map keeps working after the last bar of signal is gone.
Qsn
Live stereonets field trial
Every reading plots the moment you save it. Rose diagrams and fold-axis estimates come straight from your own data.
Qtm
Teams and field sheets field trial
One project and one legend for the whole camp. Give each geologist a field sheet, and station numbers never collide.

Gaps, overlaps, open contacts and stations that disagree with their unit are flagged on the map before a reviewer finds them.

Sync status
Solid where a record has synced. Dashed where it is still waiting for signal.
Strike and dip
Right-hand rule by default, plotted on the map as you save. Quadrant notation is one setting away.
Contact, queried
When two people edit the same contact, Singkapan keeps both versions and asks you to choose. Nothing is overwritten quietly.
Try it
Set a reading on the net.
This is the reading screen from the field app, running in your browser. Drag the pole across the net and the plane follows. Press save and it joins the day's readings.

Dip direction 132°Lower hemisphere
The net you learned on
Equal-area, lower hemisphere, with poles and great circles. Every reading plots the moment you save it.
Your compass stays in charge
Take the reading with your Brunton or Silva and type it in. On Android, the phone's own sensors can offer a quick second opinion.
Right-hand rule, always shown in full
Strike, dip and dip direction sit side by side, so nobody argues about which quadrant a reading was in.
Tied to a station, forever
Location, time, surveyor and photos travel with every measurement, all the way into the compilation.
Built here
Made for Indonesian ground.
Young volcanic rock, deep weathering, heavy rain and no signal past the last village. Singkapan is being built and tested here first.
UTM ZONES ACROSS INDONESIALONGITUDE, DEGREES EAST
Indonesia crosses nine UTM zones and the equator. Each project is pinned to one zone, north or south, and every measurement is computed in it.
Every zone from 46 to 54
From Aceh to Papua, north and south of the equator. Set the zone once when the project starts.
Bahasa Indonesia and English
Switch the interface any time. Unit names and field notes stay exactly as you wrote them.
National base maps
Load DEMNAS elevation and RBI topography, or georeference the scanned sheet your lecturer handed out.

Questions
Questions from the field
Does it really work with no signal?
Yes. The whole app runs offline, the map included. Records wait safely on your phone and sync when you are back in range, and the app always shows what has synced and what has not.
Do I need to install anything?
No app store. Singkapan runs in the browser on your phone, tablet or laptop, and adds itself to your home screen for offline use.
Can my phone replace my compass-clinometer?
Keep your compass. Typing the reading in is the main path on every phone. Android phones can offer a sensor check, but iPhone browsers do not share the compass, so there your instrument does the work.
Who owns the data?
You do. Export everything to GeoPackage, a styled QGIS project, shapefile or CSV at any time, and take it wherever you like.
Can a whole field camp use one project?
Yes. Sign in with Google, invite your team, and give each person a field sheet and a block of station numbers. Leads, geologists, surveyors and viewers each see what they need.
When can I use it?
The first field trial runs in Karangsambung, Central Java. Join the list below and we will write when a place opens.
